We will also visit the Old Private Houses area (Nationally Recognized Important Historical Building Preservation Area). The design is exceptionally strong and, in combination with the unique properties of the thatching, allows the houses to withstand and shed the weight of the region's heavy snowfalls in winter. Afterwards we will catch a glimpse of the Japan Sea, as we proceed to Japan’s ancient capital of Kyoto. On arrival we will visit the Gion nightlife area of the city, before checking into our hotel for our overnight stay.
