13 Day Exotic Myanmar Odyssey Tour 2019 (Tour Code: MOT)

Day 01: AUSTRALIA – YANGON (D)

Depart to Yangon, capital of Myanmar in the morning on Singapore Airlines or Thai Airways and arrive in the evening. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to hotel.

Day 02: YANGON – HPA AN (by car) – MAWLAMYINE (B.L.D)

In the morning take a car trip to Hpa-An. After check in the hotel, visit Kawgun cave, which is located near Kawgun village. It is a natural limestone cave and measures 200ft height and 300ft length. The rock surfaces are profusely decorated with different kinds of clay Buddha images and votive tablets. It is a rare cave in the lower Myanmar. Then visit Mount Zwegabin. The Mountain has a very unusual shape, which, once seen, is not easily forgotten. Then, proceed directly to Mawlamyine. Stay overnight in hotel.

Day 03: MAWLAMYINE (B.L.D)

Mawlamyine is the fourth largest city in the country, after Yangon and Mandalay. It is an ancient Mon town. The name, according to the legend, comes from Mot-Mua-Lum, meaning "one eye destroyed”. After checking into the hotel, drive to Thanbyuzayat, 40 miles south of Mawlamyine. Visit the historical site of Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, where thousands of Allied Prisoners of War (POWs) and Asian coolies were forced by the Japanese military to construct the Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway, a 415 kilometers rail line between Thailand and Myanmar. Then proceed to Win Sein Taw Ya (the longest reclining Buddha in the world). Return back to the hotel and spend some time by yourself at Mawlamyine Night Market. Overnight at hotel.

Day 04: MAWLAMYINE – BAGO – YANGON (by car) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, return back to Yangon via to Bago. The sightseeing highlights in Bago include the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, which is one of the most famous Mon Pagodas. You can also visit a Bago Pottery. After lunch, take a short visit to the Shwethalyaung, a beautiful 55-metre long Reclining Buddha; the Kanbawzathadi Palace and before proceeding directly to Yangon. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 05: YANGON – BAGAN (by flight) (B.L.D)

In the morning, depart to the airport for a flight to Bagan. Visit the Nyaung U local market, and then head to Shwezigon Pagoda, built with sandstones in the early 11th century, followed by Htilominlo Temple which is famous for its architecture and Ananda Temple, a famous temple in Bagan built in the 11th century. We will then make a stop at Thatbyinnyu, a tall temple measuring 61 meters dating back to 1144. In the late afternoon we will visit Dhamayangyi, a massive looking temple dating from AD 1170 that is famous for its interlocking mortar less brickwork and Manuha Temple, which was built by the exiled Mon King Manuha. This is followed by a visit to Gubyaukgyi (Myinkabar) temple, which is famous for its colorful mural paintings and under UNESCO protection. In the evening, a dinner with puppet show awaits you at a local restaurant. Stay overnight at hotel.

Day 06: BAGAN – MT. POPA – BAGAN (Balloon ride over Bagan) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, you will be transferred for a Balloon Ride above Bagan City (Optional at your own expense). Then take a car trip to Mount Popa, an extinct volcano claimed to be abode of Nat spirits. On this mountaintop are pagodas, shrines and monasteries. After lunch, return to Bagan and visit a lacquerware factory and souvenir shop. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 07: BAGAN – MANDALAY (by flight) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. Arrive at Tada Oo International Airport, and proceed directly to Amarapura (just south of Mandalay); Mahagandayon, a famous Buddhist monastery with more than a thousand student monks; and 200-year-old U Bein (Teakwood) Bridge. Then continue to Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay, one of the most revered Buddha Images; followed by a short visit to the local goldleaf cottage industry. Check-in at your hotel and enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon sightseeing in Mandalay as follows: Shwenandaw Monastery with exquisite wood carvings; Kuthodaw Pagoda known as the World's Biggest Book for its stone slabs of Buddhist scriptures; and Mandalay Hill dotted with pagodas and shrines and a vantage point for panoramic views of the city and environs. Enjoy your dinner at a local restaurant. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 08: MANDALAY – PYIN OO LWIN (by car/train/horse cart) – MANDALAY (B.L.D)

After breakfast, drive to Pyin Oo Lwin (one of the most pleasant hill stations in Myanmar). Then take train trip to Gotheik Viaduct. After lunch, embark on a sightseeing tour with horse carriages through National Kandawgyi Botanical Gardens, Chinese Temple and Pwekauk Waterfalls. We will drive back to Mandalay in the late evening. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 09: MANDALAY – HEHO – INLE (by flight/car) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, take a flight to Heho and then drive to Nyaung Shwe. After check in, visit the Red Mountain Estate Vineyard and Winery. You can enjoy wine tasting (at your own cost). Enjoy your dinner at a local restaurant. Stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 10: INLE (by boat) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, we will begin your boat tour of Inle Lake where we can observe the unique leg-rowers as well as fishing canoes, floating gardens and plantations. Then visit the famous Nga Pe Chaung (Jumping Cat) monastery and silversmith cottage industry. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit a cheroot-making factory; a boat-making workshop followed by a silk and cotton-weaving factory. Afterwards visit the famous Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. Enjoy dinner and stay overnight at your hotel.

Day 11: INLE – YANGON (by flight) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, we will visit the Inle Lake Floating Market. Following lunch, transfer to the Heho airport for flight to Yangon. Enjoy your dinner at a local restaurant in Chinatown. Stay overnight at your hotel in Yangon.

Day 12: YANGON – AUSTRALIA (B.L)

After breakfast, start your sightseeing tour from Kaba Aye (World Peace) Pagoda; Mahapasana Cave and the Lawka Chantha Abaya Laba Muni, the world's largest marble image of Buddha. After lunch, your sightseeing continues with visits to Insight Meditation Centre; the Sule Pagoda, located right in the centre of Yangon; some Colonial Buildings; and the Strand Hotel. Afterwards, visit Bogyoke Aung San Museum. If time permits, you will do some last minute shopping at Bogyoke Market (also known as Scott Market) to browse and bargain freely among the hundreds of stalls for great souvenirs. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the Yangon International Airport for your flight homeward to Australia via Singapore.

Day 13: AUSTRALIA

Arrive in Australia in the morning. Your unforgettable Myanmar tour ends.

Tour price includes:

  1. Singapore Airlines return ticket from Australia to Yangon, Myanmar via Singapore;
