Day 02, 07 NOV: SHANGHAI – NARITA (D)

Both Sydney and Melbourne passengers connect depart to Tokyo Narita Airport via Hong Kong in the morning and arrive in Tokyo, the capital of Japan in the afternoon. You are met by our tour guide and transferred to your hotel. You will have a welcoming dinner in your hotel restaurant tonight.

Day 03, 08 NOV: NARITA – NIKKO – TOKYO (B.L)

Today you will travel to Nikko, a small city at the entrance to Nikko National Park. Visit Toshogu Shrine, Japan's most lavishly decorated shrine complex and mausoleum of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Nikko has been a centre of Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for many centuries, and Nikko National Park continues to offer scenic, mountainous landscapes, lakes, waterfalls, hot springs, wild monkeys and hiking trails. You will visit Kegon Water Falls and Lake Chuzenji. Stay overnight in Tokyo.

Day 04, 09 NOV: TOKYO SIGHTSEEING (B.L.D)

Today’s tour includes Edo Museum, Asakusa Temple, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7thcentury, Imperial Palace, home of the Imperial Family, which only opens topublic on 23rd December and 2nd January each year, Ginza, Tokyo brand name shopping area, same as New York 5th Avenue and Shinjuku area.

Day 05, 10 NOV: TOKYO – HAKONE – MT. FUJI – FUJIKAWAGUCHIKO (B.L.D)

Travel to Hakone by coach. Visit the Peace Park, Owakutani Hot Spring and have a cruise on Lake Ashi. Visit Mt. Fuji. Climb up to the 5th station by coach, about 2300 meters above the sea level. Visit the Visitor Centre. Enjoy a hot spring in your hotel in the evening.

Day 06, 11 NOV: ISAWA – LAKE SUWA– TAKAYAMA (B.L.D)

Proceed to visit Lake Suwa. Afterwards we drive towards Takayama where we will visit Takayama Old Town. The Old Town of Takayama still stands on the east side of the Miyagawa River flowing through Takayama, and in the middle of it is Sanmachi, where Edo period houses remain. This district was designated as an area of important traditional buildings by the Japanese Government (Nationally Recognized Historical Building Preservation Area). The highlight of the trip is the Historical Government House (Takayama Jinya). The building served as The Tokugawa government's administrative building of Hida Province for 177 years (1692-1868). Of the 60 local government offices that were once spread throughout Japan, this is the only one still in existence. Enjoy a tea ceremony at Takayama area.

Day 07, 12 NOV: TAKAYAMA – SHIRAKAWA GASSHO VILLAGE – KYOTO (B.L)

We will start with the visit to the Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama, one of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Shirakawa-go (White River Old District) is located in the village of Shirakawa. These villages are well known for their houses constructed in architectural style known as gassho-zukuri ("prayer-hands construction") style, which is characterized by a thatched and steeply slanting roof resembling two hands joined in prayer.  The design is exceptionally strong and combined with the unique properties of the thatching, allowed the houses to withstand and shed the weight of the region's heavy snowfalls in winter. Afterwards we will proceed to Kyoto.

Day 08, 13 NOV: KYOTO (B.L)

We have late start this morning before our Sushi-making lesson, where you will have a hand-on opportunity to make your own sushi rolls. This followed by a visit to Heian Jingu Shrine which is the home of perhaps the world's most authentic and exquisite Japanese garden. We will watch a Kimono Show at Nishinjin Showroom.

Day 09, 14 NOV: KYOTO – NARA – OSAKA (B.L.D)

Today we will visit the golden pavilion (Kinkakuji). En-route we stop in Nara and visit Todai Temple (Great Buddha Temple). Continue to travel to Osaka. Visit Osaka Castle and Shinzaibashi shopping area

Day 10, 15 NOV: OSAKA – HIROSHIMA (B.L)

Today we visit Kobe Japanese Sake Brewery. After this visit we travel to Hiroshima by bullet train (Shinkansen). Upon arrival, check into your hotel in Hiroshima.

Day 11, 16 NOV:  HIROSHIMA – MIYAJIMA – HIROSHIMA (B.L.D)

After breakfast you will leave the hotel for a sightseeing tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima. You will visit the Itsukushima Shrine located upon Itsukushima Island (Miyajima). Miyajima Island is the popular name of Itsukushima Island situated near Miyajima Town in southwestern Hiroshima. It is a scenic sight in which the mountains, sea and red shrine buildings blend in harmony, and the entire island is designated as a historic site. It is one of the three most beautiful sites in Japan, along with Matsushima in Miyagi and Amanohashidate in Kyoto. Next, visit Peace Memorial Park. The Genbaku Dome (The Atomic Bomb Dome) is the symbol of Hiroshima, the city that advocates peace in the world. It is located in Hiroshima and faces Hiroshima Bay in the Seto Inland Sea. It was originally the Hiroshima Industrial Promotion Hall built in 1915. While all structures vanished in the atomic bomb explosion, only this building miraculously remained standing after the atomic bombing of 6 August 1945.

Day 12, 17 NOV: HIROSHIMA – SHANGHAI – SYDNEY OR MELBOURNE (B)

After breakfast, you are free until transfer to airport for your flight homewards to Australia via Shanghai. Upon arrival in Shanghai, you are met and transferred to lunch. After lunch, enjoy a city orientation tour before you are transferred to the airport for your flight homeward to Sydney or Melbourne. You fly overnight.

Day 13, 18 NOV: AUSTRALIA

Arrive in Australia today. Your unforgettable Japan Autumn Leaves tour ends.

 

Tour price: $5,190 per person, twin or double share

Single supplement: $1,080

Tour price includes:

  1. China Eastern Airlines economy class air-fare Sydney or Melbourne – Shanghai – Narita//Hiroshima – Shanghai – Sydney or Melbourne;
  2. Airport tax and fuel surcharge (currently $490, subject to change. Flight schedule, subject to change);
  3. Ten night twin-shared accommodation at 4 star hotels mentioned in the itinerary or similar in Japan;
  4. Meals as listed in the itinerary (Buffet breakfasts at hotels, Japanese, Chinese or Western lunches and dinners at local restaurants or hotel restaurants);
  5. Sightseeing tours with admission as stated in the itinerary;
  6. Bullet train ticket Kyoto – Hiroshima in Japan;
