19 Day China and Japan Ceramic Tour Departing 06 May 2018 (Tour Code: CJC)

Day 01, 06 May: Sydney – Shanghai

Depart to Shanghai on China Eastern Airlines in the morning and arrive in the evening. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred from airport to your hotel.

Accommodation: Shanghai Green Land Jiulong Hotel or similar

 

Day 02, 07 May: Shanghai – Hangzhou (B.L.D)

Take a bullet train to Hangzhou. Cruise the West Lake by boat and visit Gulangyu Island

Accommodation: Hangzhou Sanli New Century Hotel or similar

 

Day 03, 08 May: Hangzhou – Jingdezhen (B.D)

Visit the Southern Song Dynasty Guan Kiln Museum. After that, you are transfer to the train station to take a bullet train to Jingdezhen. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel in Jingdezhen.

Day 04, 09 May: Jingdezhen (B.L.D)

In the morning we will check in and have an orientation tour of The Pottery Workshop (PWS), Sculpture Factory and the old factory. After lunch we will have a Blue and White workshop in the Education Centre at the PWS instructed by a traditional master. Blue-White (Qing Hua) is the most famous decoration here.

Day 05, 10 May: Jingdezhen (B.L.D)

In the morning we will have an onglaze enamelling workshop (Xincai and Fencai), instructed by a traditional master. In the afternoon we visit the Ancient Kiln Museum and on the way back to the PWS we will call in to the brush & decal shops nearby.

Day 06, 11 May: Jingdezhen (B.L.D)

After breakfast we will visit Jingdezhen’s famous Reproduction alley; where counterfeiters' kilns pump out fake porcelain good enough to fool not just tourists, but dealers and auction houses too. After lunch on our way to San Bao Arts Centre, we call in to the big ware factory (This factory specializes at making big pots in porcelain. The highest is about 5 meters high).

The Sanbao Valley had for countless centuries been the source of Chinastone for the studios of Jingdezhen and was dotted with numerous old water-powered hammer mills for crushing the stone. Dinner will be at SanBao.

Day 07, 12, May: Jingdezhen (B.L.D)

Yaoli is an ancient village with bamboo forest and waterfall, they have delicious local food, in this one day trip we can go to a museum where the original material “Kaolin” is from. On the way back, we will visit the 64 metre Tian Bao Dragon Wood Kiln.

Day 08, 13 May: Jingdezhen – Shanghai (B.D)

You are leisure until transfer to train station for a train trip to Shanghai.

Accommodation: Shanghai Green Land Jiulong Hotel or similar

 

Day 09, 14 May: Shanghai – Fukuoka (B.D)

After breakfast, you are transferred to airport for your flight to Fukuoka, Japan. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred through Tenjin Underground Mall to your hotel. You will have your dinner in local restaurant tonight.

Day 10, 15 May: Fukuoka – Imari – Dazaifutenmangu – Kouraku Kiln – Arita (B.D)

After breakfast, visit Daizaifu in the morning, then transfer to Kouraku Kiln for workshop of Ceramics. Arrive at Arita middle of the day and stay for afternoon.

Days 11, 16 May: Arita (B.D)

Blue and white workshop in the morning. Afternoon you can look around at Arita.  

Accommodation: Imarai Grand Hotel or similar.

 

Day 12, 17 May: Arita (B.D)

Onglaze workshop in the morning. You will have a Treasure Hunt in the afternoon (Coach is available for transfers).

Accommodation: Imarai Grand Hotel or similar.

 

Day 13, 18 May: Arita (B.D)

Today you will have a tour of local area with coach in Arita.

Accommodation: Imarai Grand Hotel or similar.

 

Day 14, 19 May: Nagasaki – Kumamoto (B.D)

After breakfast, visit Nagasaki Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum, Glover Garden

Afternoon visit Shimbara shiba-sakura Garden, Transfer to Shimabara Pier for Ferry

to Kumamoto.

Accommodation: Kumamoto Nikko Hotel or similar

 

Day 15, 20 May: Volcano Aso – Fukuoka (B. D)

After breakfast, visit Suizenji Park, Kumamoto Castle, Mt Aso. In the afternoon, you are

transferred to Fukuoka, visit Canal City.

Accommodation: Fukuoka New Otani Hotel or similar

 

Day 16, 20 May: Fukuoka – Onta Ancient Town – Fukuoka (B.D)

You will have a day tour to Onta, the ancient town in Japan. Return to Fukuoka in the

afternoon and stay overnight in Fukuoka.

 

Day 17, 22 May: Fukuoka – Shanghai (by MU at 14:30) (B)

You are at leisure until you are transferred to airport for your flight to Shanghai in the afternoon. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to hotel.

Accommodation: Shanghai Green Land Jiulong Hotel or similar

 

Day 18, 23, May: Shanghai – Sydney (B.L)

Visit Yu Garden, the Bund and Pudong Area. After that, you are transferred to airport for your flight homeward to Sydney. Fly overnight.

 

Day 19, 24, May: Sydney

You arrive in Sydney in the morning. Your unforgettable China and Japan Ceramic tour ends.

 

Tour price: $6,980 per person, twin or double share

Single Supplemtn: $1,080

 

This price includes:

  1. China Eastern Airlines return ticket: Sydney – Shanghai – Fukuoka;
  2. Bullet train: Hangzhou – Jingdezhen – Shanghai (the bullet train to and from Jingdezhen is estimated to be in operation from November 2017 and if by the time we are travelling the train is still not in operation, we will have to use coach and flights instead);
  3. Airport taxes (currently $450, subject to change);
  4. 12 night accommodation at 4 star hotels as indicated or similar in the itinerary except in Jingdezhen;
  5. 5 night accommodation at 3 star hotel in Jingdezhen as indicated or similar in the itinerary;
  6. Transfers and transport all through;
  7. All the ceramics workshops in China and Japan;
  8. Sightseeing tours with entrance fees as mentioned in the itinerary;
  9. Ferry ticket in Japan;
