20-Day Vietnam and Cambodia Pottery Tour

Day 01, 22 Oct: Sydney – Hanoi

Depart Sydney, Australia on Vietnam Airlines in the afternoon and arrive in Hanoi in the evening. Upon arrival, you are welcome at the airport and transferred to hotel. Stay overnight at MK Primier Hotel**** or similar


Day 02, 23 Oct: Hanoi – Halong Bay (B. L. D)

You will have breakfast in the morning, and then we depart from Hanoi and travel by air-conditioned bus through the Red River Delta to beautiful Ha Long Bay. The scenic drive will pass through some of the rural landscape before arriving in the afternoon to the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay. Ha Long Bay consists of more than 3000 islands, which time, wind and waves have sculptured into fantastic shapes. Upon arrival, check in the junk at noon. You will experience a fantastic cruise in Ha Long bay to visit Thien Cung cave, Dau Go cave, and round over Tuan Chau Island, Dinh Huong Island, Ga Choi Island, Dog Island, Sail Island and a swim at Titov beach. Enjoy dinner on board while watching sunset and enjoy fishing, drinking Vietnamese wine, and spending a night on the Phoenix Deluxe Junk****or similar.


Day 03, 24 Oct: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B. L. D)

In the morning, you will have breakfast and from there, go for a morning cruise to visit Man's head island, Tortoise Island, Luon cave, Bai Tu Long bay, Toad Island, Bai tho mountain. Afterwards, return to Halong city and have lunch on board. We will drive back to Hanoi. Visit production pottery factory on the way for the night. In the evening enjoy a traditional Vietnamese water puppet show. Stay overnight at MK Primier Hotel **** or similar


Day 04, 25 Oct: Hanoi (B.L.D)

Ceramics day at Bat Trang visiting a few pottery factories or studios. Stay overnight at MK Primier Hotel **** or similar


Day 05, 26 Oct Apr: Hanoi – Hue (B. L. D)

In the morning, you will have breakfast. Today city tour includes such sights as Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, and the Fine Art Museum. Then move on to the Temple of Literature, Lake of Restored Sword and the Old Quarter. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for a flight to Hue. Stay overnight at Park View Hotel****or similar


Day 06, 27 Oct: Hue (B. L. D)

In the morning, you will have breakfast. This morning, take a boat cruise on the Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda-one of the most beautiful Pagodas in Vietnam built at the end of 16th century and Kinh Minh Mang's tomb. Afternoon visit Imperial palace: a citadel surrounded by large moats. Then continue to visit King Tu Duc’s tomb. Enjoy traditional music on Perfume River in the evening. Stay overnight at Park View Hotel****or similar


Day 07, 28 Oct: Hue – Hoi An (B. L. D)

There will be breakfast in the morning and then drive over the mighty Hai Van Pass. On the way there, we will visit Cham Museum where the remaining evidence of the Champa civilization can be viewed. Then visit the Marble Mountains, which is fascinating maze of cave and temples, hidden with five sacred marble rocks. Visit Hoi An town with Japanese Bridge, Old House, Chinese Temple and Hoi An Cultural Museum. You will stay overnight at Golden Sand Resort****or similar


Day 08, 29 Oct: Hoi An (B. L. D)

Have a tour of countryside including Than Ha pottery village. You will stay overnight at Ancient House Resort****or similar

Day 09, 30 Oct: Hoi An – My Son – Hoi An (B. L. D)

Breakfast in the morning, followed by a visit to My Son, Vietnam's most important Cham ruins site and Bang An, one of Vietnam's best preserved Cham towers. Stay overnight at Golden Sand Resort****or similar


Day 10, 31 Oct: Hoi An – Danang – Saigon – Can Tho (B.L.D)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you are free at leisure to explore Hoi An ancient town. In the afternoon, you are transferred to Danang airport for the flight to Saigon. Upon arrival, you are transferred to Can Tho City, considered as the capital of Mekong Delta. Dinner with a traditional musical show called Mekong Amateur Music – the world cultural Heritage at Mekong Food Garden. Overnight at Muong Thanh Hotel**** or similar.


Day 11, 01 Nov: Can Tho – Saigon (B.L.D)
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you will take a boat ride to visit the floating market and fruit garden. In the afternoon, drive back to Saigon. On the way you will visit Vinh Long’s pottery village. Two kilometres from downtown after crossing Thieng Duc Bridge on National 31 along Co Chien River, in the distance, you will see heaving kilns with white smoke emitting into the sky. That is the kingdom of red ceramics. The famous pottery craft village which has been in operation for 20 years along the Co Chien River from Vinh Long City, Long Ho District to Mang Thit District.

Day 12, 02 Nov: Bien Hua day (B.L.D)

We will visit several potteries in the area. Overnight at Harmony Saigon Hotel**** or similar.


Day 13, 03 Nov: Saigon – Cu Chi – Saigon (B.L.D)

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, you will drive to Cu Chi guerrilla's area and visit the underground tunnels. There are more than 200km of tunnels that were built by the Communist guerrillas during the war. In the afternoon, you will visit the former Presidential Palace, the History Museum, the Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Saigon Post Office. Overnight at Harmony Saigon Hotel**** or similar.


Day 14, 04 Nov: Saigon – Phnom Penh (B. L. D)

After breakfast, you are transferred to airport for your flight to Phnom Penh, capital of Cambodia. Upon arrival, you are met at Phnom Penh International Airport and transferred to the hotel. After visit National Museum, over 5000 objects are on display including Angkorian era statu, lingas and other artifacts. You will also visit Royal Palace, which is a royal residence now where His Majesty, the King of Cambodia, and the royal families live. It is like a small town of royal dynasties. Continue to Silver Pagoda, serves less as a functioning temple than a repository for cultural treasures such as 90 kg golden Buddha encrusted with 2086 diamonds. Finally visit Wat Phnom Temple, one of the most important pagodas in Phnom Penh, which was built in 1373 on an artificial hill by the wealthy widow Daun Chi Penh. Day 15, 05 Nov: Phnom Penh (B.L.D)

Breakfast at hotel. Visit Tuol Sleng Museum (S-21 prison). This former school was used as a prison by Pol Pot’s security forces. More than 17,000 people held at S-21 were taken to the extermination camp at Choeng Ek to be executed. Then drive to visit the “Killing Fields” of Choeng Ek (15 km south of Phnom Penh). Between 1975 and 1978 about 17,000 men, women, children and infants (including nine westerners) were detained and tortured at the S-21 prison and transported to extermination camp of Choeng Ek. Visit Russian Market (Toul Tumpong Market), the Market has gained reputation for cheap clothing, a large selection of Buddha images and woodcarvings, betel-nut boxes, silk, silver jewelry, and classic music instrument. Enjoy Sunset Cruise on the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers in Phnom Penh, it bursts into 4 branches.  Stay overnight at Ohana Phnom Penh Palace Hotel**** or similar


Day 16, 06 Nov: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap (B.L.D)

Breakfast at the hotel. Pick up at your hotel and depart for Siem Reap by overland transfer. Stop at the pottery manufactories in Kompong Chhnang. You are free to explore Siem Reap until dinner. Stay overnight at Saem Siem Reap Hotel**** or similar.


Day 17, 07 Nov: Angkor (B.L.D)                                                                                               

Breakfast at hotel: Start your sightseeing tour of Angkor area we spend a full day exploring the wondrous ancient ruins with the South Gate of Angkor Thom, which is famous for its series of colossal human faces carved in stone, the impressive Bayon Temple, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and the largest as well as the most complete temple of Angkor Wat. This architectural masterpiece was constructed in the 12th century and covers an area of about 210 hectares. We stroll around this massive edifice, seeing the many galleries with columns, libraries, pavilions, courtyards and ponds full of water reflecting the towering temple and the jungle covered temple of Ta Prohm is an incredible sight. There are enormous fig trees and gigantic creepers which embrace themselves in the stone foundations of the structure giving the impression of man's creation being reclaimed by the powerful forces of nature. Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 18, 08 Nov: Angkor (B.L.D)                                                                                               

Breakfast at the hotel: This morning we will enjoy a boat ride (private boat and guide) on the Tonle Sap lake. This is the largest permanent fresh-water lake in South East Asia and flows into Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong in Phnom Penh. We will see a fishermen's "floating village" with floatting schools, floatting police station, etc. It is same as a big village floatting on the lake, and the "village" move from place to place following water levels and curant. Afternoon, visit the “Chantiers-Ecole, Les Artisans d’Angkor”, a vocational training center, which revives the traditional Cambodian techniques and styles of wood and stone carving and polychrome lacquer and followed by the local market. Early this evening, you will be taken by Tuk Tuk (the local transportation) to cruise around the suburb of Siem Reap town. Stay overnight at Saem Siem Reap Hotel**** or similar.


Day 19, 09 Nov: Siem Reap – Saigon – Sydney (B)

You are at leisure until transfer to airport for your flight homewards to Sydney via Saigon on Vietnam Airlines. Fly overnight.


Day 20, 10 Nov: Sydney

You arrive at Sydney in the morning and your unforgettable Vietnam and Cambodia tour ends.


Tour price: $5,000 per person, twin or double share.

Single supplement: $1,350 per person
