Cathay Pacific Airways

Cathay Pacific was one of the founding members of the oneworld airline alliance, which makes it part of a global flight network with connections to more than 135 countries and more than 570 destinations, allowing it to offer even more great value airfares.

The airline was founded in Hong Kong in 1946 and legend has it that the company's American founders thought up its unusual name when they were at the bar at the Manila Hotel.

Cathay Pacific runs its flights with one of the youngest and most modern fleets of aircraft in the skies, with an average age of just seven years old. The airline has ordered 48 new aircraft since 1997, each with a hefty price tag.

By September 2006, Cathay Pacific will have 100 aeroplanes, including Airbus A340-600 long-haul aeroplanes, Airbus A340-300s and several Boeing 747s and 777s.

Known worldwide for its high quality flights and services, in 2006 alone, Cathay Pacific has so far received awards including Best Airline of the Year in the OAG Awards, Top Emotive Brand from the Yahoo! Emotive Brand Awards and Airline of the Year from Air Transport World magazine.

China Southern Airlines

China Southern Airlines Company Limited together with its subsidiaries is one of the largest airlines in China. In 2000, the Group continued to rank first among all Chinese airlines in terms of volume of passenger traffic, number of scheduled flights per week, number of hours flown, number of routes and size of aircraft fleet. As of year-end 2000, the Group operated 361 routes, of which 300 were domestic, 39 were international and 22 were Hong Kong regional. As of 31 December, 2000, the Group operated a fleet of 109 aircraft, consisting primarily of Boeing 737-200, 737- 300, 737-500, 737-700, 747-400, 757-200, 777-200 and Airbus 320-200 aircraft.
