ITINERARY

Day 01, 14 APR: AUSTRALIA – DOHA

Depart Sydney or Melbourne, Australia in the evening on Qatar Airways and fly overnight.


Day 02, 15 APR:  DOHA – ATHENS (D)

Connect your flight in Doha and arrive in the morning in Athens to embark on an unforgettable exploration of an ancient land of gods and goddesses, myths and legends. Your springboard to your spellbinding holiday is the vibrant capital of Athens, an effortless mix of ancient treasures and modern verve. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel. You will have an opportunity to explore this exciting city on your own.


Day 03, 16 APR: ATHENS (B.D)

Start the day by exploring an ancient land of gods and goddesses, myths and legends with a Athens city tour in the morning. Visit to the Acropolis - the ancient hilltop complex and symbol of a civilisation once considered the Cradle of Western Civilisation and today overlooks a sprawling cityscape below. We'll admire the Parthenon, the Royal Palace, Temple of Zeus and the Agora, Acropolis Museum. Tour continues to the Hadrian's Arch and to the stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in 1896. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy on your own terms. Meander through the cobbled   lanes of Plaka, people-watch in Syntagma Square or go in search of the city's tastiest souvlaki - the choice is yours.                                                    


Day 04, 17 APR: ATHENS – CORINTH – MYCENAE – EPIDAURUS – NAFPLIO (B. D) (Approx. 200 km)

We depart Athens in the morning, crossing the mighty Corinth Canal (photo stop) to the Peloponnesian Peninsula. Arriving in the ancient city of Corinth – visit the archaeological site (explore an ancient city that several empires fought over throughout the centuries). We continue to Mycenae, once a mighty kingdom of ancient Greece, where we’ll see (at the archaeological site) the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus, the Lion Gate and the remains of Agamemnon's Royal Palace.In the afternoon, we'll travel to Epidaurus to visit the ancient theatre and view the Sanctuary of Asclepius, the God of Medicine. Arriving in the charming Venetian town of Nafplio.

Day 05, 18 APR: NAFPLIO – OLYMPIA (B.D)

We traverse the Mountains of Arcadia to ancient Olympia, past quaint mountain villages into a land of myths and legends, and the site of the first Olympic Games held in 776 BC. This evening we join the Karambellas family on their 30-acre olive and wine farm for an unforgettable Be My Guest dinner, some traditional dancing and characteristic Greek philoxenia

Day 06, 19 APR: OLYMPIA –PATRAS – DELPHI (B.D)

We join a Local Specialist this morning to delve into centuries of history. We'll visit the ancient Olympic site, the museum and the ruined remains of the Temples of Zeus and Hera. Leaving Olympia, we skirt the coastline north to Patras, crossing the Gulf of Corinth to mainland Greece. Visit St Andrews Church before continuing onto Delphi, our home for tonight. Day 07, 20 APR: DELPHI –KALAMBAKA (B.D) 

In the morning visit the Monastery of Hosios Loukas. Tread in the footsteps of ancient Greeks who would descend on the sanctuary of Delphi to consult with the most important oracle in the classical world. Join your Local Specialist and walk the Sacred Way to the 4th century Temple of Apollo and view the statues immortalising the strength of the athletes who once competed in the Pythian Games held in honour of Apollo and the Arts. We cross the lush Thessaly region, the 'bread basket of Greece', and travel over the Pourmaraki Pass towards Kalambaka.

Day 08, 21 APR: KALAMBAKA – METEORA –THERMOPYLAE – ATHENS (B.D)

The breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage monasteries of Meteora are our first stop today. Join a Local Specialist to visit two of the six Eastern Orthodox monasteries that cling impressively to immense, rounded rock towers overlooking the town. A scenic drive returns us to Athens. we drive to Thermopylae, famous for the heroic defence by Leonidas and his brave Spartans against the invading Persians where we'll enjoy a rousing Arrival in Athens. Enjoy a dinner at a typical Greek Taverna with music, folklore and traditional dance sirtaki before you start your cruise.

Day 09, 22 APR: ATHENS – TRANSFER to the PORT FOR A GREEK ISLAND CRUISE (B)

You have free time in Athens until you are transferred in the afternoon to the port to embark upon Celestyal Crystal to the Greek Isles (cruise departs at 21:00 to Mykonos).


Day 10, 23 APR: MYKONOS (B.L.D)

Arrive at Mykonos at 7:00am. You are at leisure to explore this famous Greek Island on your own (complimentary shuttle bus service is available). 


Day 11, 24 APR: MYKONOS – MILOS – SANTORINI (B.L.D)

Depart Mykonos at 7:00am and arrive at Milos at 1:00pm. You are at leisure to explore this Island. At 11:59pm, the ship will continue to sail to Santorini, another famous Greek Island.


Day 12, 25 APR: SANTORINI (B.L.D)

Arrive at Santorini at 8:00am. Enjoy a shore excursion to the spectacular Oia village perched on the Caldera rim.


Day 13, 26 APR: SANTORINI – CRETE (HERAKLION) (B.L.D)

You are at leisure for the whole day to explore this famous Island. The ship will continue to sail to Crete (Heraklion) at 11:00pm.


Day 14, 27 APR: CRETE – KUSADASI (TURKEY) (B.L.D)                                                                            

The ship arrives at Crete at 7:00am this morning. Our shore excursion will take you to Minoan Palace of Knossos considered the first European civilization. Later, the ship will continue sailing to Kusadasi, Turkey at 8:30pm.


Day 15, 28 APR: KUSADASI – ATHENS (B.L.D)

Arrive at Kusadasi at 11:30am. Enjoy a shore excursion to Ancient Ephesus through the Ages (Hellenistic/Roman). At 5:00pm, the cruise ship will depart to Athens.


Day 16, 29 APR: ATHENS – DOHA – AUSTRALIA (B)

You will arrive in Athens at 9:00am. After disembarking from the cruise ship. You are transferred to the airport for your flight homewards to Australia on Qatar Airways via Doha.

 

Day 17, 30 APR: AUSTRALIA

You arrive in Sydney or Melbourne, Australia in the morning. Your unforgettable Greece tour ends.
