ITINERARY

Day 01: AUSTRALIA – SHANGHAI

Sydney passengers depart to Shanghai on MU562 at 11:00am and arrive at 7:20pm. Melbourne passengers depart to Shanghai on MU738 at 11:00am and arrive at 7:40pm. Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to hotel.

Day 02:SHANGHAI (B.L.D)

Stroll the Nanjing Road and the Bund (Wai Tan) waterfront area, a sweeping area along the Huangpu River, where there used to be foreign concessions and now is the symbol of modern Shanghai. Here is the best place to capture the western influence of the old days. Visit the Yuyuan Garden and the Old City Temple. You will also visit Xintiandi, a renovated and popular area in Shanghai full of dynamic bars, fancy restaurants and fashion shops. You will find lots of unique Shikumen remained along the street in the area, which are the traditional houses for Shanghai people. Enjoy an exciting acrobatic show in the evening (optional at your own cost).

Day 03: SHANGHAI – WUHAN – YICHANG – YANGTZE CRUISE (B.D)

After breakfast, you are transferred to the airport for a flight to Wuhan, from where you will take bullet train to Yichang. Upon arrival, you will be transferred from Yichang to the nearby Maoping pier to embark on your 5* Victoria cruise ship.

Day 04: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE (B.L.D)

With a rich Chinese cultural heritage of thousands of years, the Three Gorges is not only a picturesque natural gallery, but also a spectacular treasure house. Disembark. This morning and take a specially-designed sightseeing boat through the recently-completed unique ship lock with a ship lift (own expense for the ship lift) The lock will be transited in about 40mins to an hour. Today you will visit the Three Gorges Dam at Sandouping, the largest in the world. Sail through Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges. Additional trip of the Three Gorges Shore Excursion (river conditions permitting) is available, offering an interesting glimpse into life in the Xiling Gorge region.

Day 05: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE (B.L.D)

Take an excursion through the Goddess Stream Small Gorges, which are narrower than the Three Gorges, but very impressive. Enter Wu Gorge, known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains, and cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices. Then sail through Qutang Gorge, the shortest (5 miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic gorge. Additional Shore Excursion to White Emperor City (river conditions permitting), an ancient city overlooking the western end of Qutang Gorge.

Day 06: YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE (B.L.D)

Take a shore excursion to Shibaozhai, with its impressive wooden pagoda, appropriately named “The Pearl of the Yangtze”. Depending on river conditions, an alternate excursion may be substituted to Fengdu, visiting either the new relocation village built for families who have moved as a result of the Yangtze’s rising waters brought about by the Three Gorges Dam.

Day 07: CHONGQING – XI’AN (B.L.D)

The cruiser arrives at its destination: Chongqing. Visit Panda House to see the Pandas. After lunch, you are transferred to airport to take a flight to Xi’an. Upon arrival, transfer to a local restaurant to have your dinner. And then transfer to your hotel.

Day 08: XI’AN (B.L)

Visit the Terracotta Warriors Factory to see how the local people make the porcelain terra-cotta figures, the same way, which their old generation used to make the Terracotta Warriors and Horses for the Qin Shi Huang’s Tomb. Continue to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, the attached defending army to the first emperor of China, regarded as “the eighth wonder of the world” and among the top archaeological excavations of the 20th century. Also visit the Muslim Street.You can choose to enjoy a Tang Dynasty Singing and Dancing Show with dinner in the evening (optional at your own cost).

Day 09: XI’AN – BEIJING (B.L.D)

After breakfast, you will visit the Ancient City Wall, which is not only the most complete city wall that has survived in China, but also one of the largest and most complete ancient military defense systems in the world. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Beijing, the capital city of China. Upon arrival, our tour guide will meet you in the airport and transfer you to the hotel.

Day 10:BEIJING (B.L.D)

Beijing served as the capital of 5 dynasties over a period of 800 years with each emperor identified as a dragon sent from the heaven. Start your city tour to Tiananmen Square, followed by a visit to the Forbidden City. This complex, the largest and most intact conglomeration of ancient structures of the imperial palace ever built in the world, features more than 800 buildings with 9999 rooms, resplendent golden-glazed roofs, red lacquered pillars and vermilion walls. Then visit the Temple of Heaven and Pearl Workshop. You will enjoy the famous Kungfu (Martial Art) show in the evening (optional at your own cost).

Day 11:  BEIJING (B.L.D)

The highlight today is a trip to the astonishing Great Wall at Juyongguan Pass. The Great Wall is the most famous image of China throughout the world. It is said to be the only man-made object visible from the moon, as of the Eight Wonders of the world. It is a symbol of Chinese traditional culture and the pride of the Chinese nation. Later visit the Jade factory. In the afternoon, you will visit the Summer Palace followed by Olympic Green to see the Bird’s Nest Stadium and the Water Cube. Enjoy the famous Peking Duck farewell dinner in the evening.

Day 12: BEIJING – AUSTRALIA (B)

After breakfast, you are at leisure before you are transferred to airport for your flight homewards to Australia.

 

Day 13: AUSTRALIA

Arrive in Australia in the morning. Your unforgettable China tour ends.
