Day 01, 08 JAN: SYDNEY or MELBOURNE – SHANGHAI

Depart to Shanghai from Sydney or Melbourne on China Eastern Airlines in the afternoon and arrive in Shanghai in the evening. On arrival in Shanghai, you will be met by your friendly China guide and transferred to your 4 star Hotel where you will spend two nights.

Day 02, 09 JAN: SHANGHAI (B.L.D)

After breakfast, this morning we'll visit the famous Bund next to the Huangpu River, the waterfront where some of the city’s oldest, most beautiful and best-known buildings stand. There is time for you to take photos and take a stroll. After that we proceed to the Silk Spin Mill. After lunch we visit the famous Yu Garden, the traditional Chinese Garden. We also drive through the busy underground tunnel to the other side of Huangpu River, to the Pudong area, the new Shanghai CBD. If weather permits, we could take the lift up to one of Shanghai's tallest buildings for a bird eye view of the city of Shanghai and the Huangpu River. (Optional – Lift ride is at your own cost). After dinner, there is time for those interested to see a Chinese Acrobatic Show if available; (Optional - cost approx. $85 including transport. Our local guide can arrange this.)

Day 03, 10 JAN: SHANGHAI – DALIAN (By flight) (B.L.D)

After breakfast, your guide meets you and transfers you to the Maglev station. Here you will get the opportunity to experience this high-speed wander out to Shanghai Pudong Airport for your China Eastern Airlines flight to Dalian. On arrival in Dalian you will be met by your friendly Dalian guide. You will be taken to sightseeing tour, first stop is the Xinghai Square or People's Square. We will then go for scenic drive along the beautiful coast via Binhai Road, Dalian Beida Bridge, Tiger Beach. We'll stop and walk through the Japanese street where you will see many abandoned big houses built during the Japanese time. We proceed to the Russian street where there are many Russian shops, then drive to the city before we check into the hotel and dinner.

Day 04, 11 JAN: DALIAN – SHENYANG (By bullet train) (B.L.D)

This morning you'll need to take your big bag down to the lobby for it to be loaded into the coach to transfer it to Shenyang separately by road. Afterwards you'll have free time to wander around or do some shopping at the nearby shops, markets, lanes and department stores etc or enjoy a late breakfast. You'll have a late check out. Your guide will meet you around mid-day to take you to lunch. After lunch you will be taken to the train station for your high-speed train ride to Shenyang in the mid- afternoon. It takes 2 hours, passing through some beautiful country scenery at the speed of up to 306km/hr. Our driver and guide will be waiting for us on our arrival in Shenyang station. You'll check into your hotel followed by dinner.

Day 05, 12 JAN: SHENYANG (B.L.D)

The highlight for today in Shenyang is the renowned Shenyang Old Forbidden City. Before the Qing Emperor defeated the peasant uprising army at the end of Ming dynasty and conquered Beijing, Shenyang was briefly the capital city of the Qing Dynasty. Shenyang Old Forbidden City is one of the only two large-scale palace complexes in China. Later you will visit the 918 Museum. This museum is dedicated to showing and explaining the many kinds of torture and killings that the Japanese inflicted on the local Chinese. For dinner this evening, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a local Lao Bian Dumpling Feast.

Day 06, 13 JAN: SHENYANG – CHANGCHUN (B.L.D)

After breakfast you will farewell Shenyang and travel by coach to Changchun, the capital city of Jilin province. Upon arrival, you will visit the largest park in Changchun - Nanhu Park. Here you will find a beautiful lake, weeping willow trees, winter flowers, singing birds and many traditional Chinese ancient buildings.

Day 07, 14 JAN: CHANGCHUN – HARBIN (B.L.D)

In Changchun today, you will visit the Imperial Palace used by the last emperor Pu Yi of the Qing Dynasty after 1924. We then continue by coach to Harbin and upon arrival, you will check in to your 4-star hotel.

Day 08, 15 JAN: HARBIN (B.L.D)

Harbin is famous for its annual Ice Festival and the city bears 'Ice World" as its main claim to fame. Today after breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to see swimmers who brave the cold in the sub-zero degree temperature and dive into the Songhua River and do their exercise, one of the features of Harbin's Ice & Snow Festival. They swim twice a day in the morning and the afternoon. After lunch we will drive to St Sophia Church for photo stop. We then drive to Harbin’s famous Central Street, a long street full of shops, Russian style buildings, Russian shops and Russian snacks. In the late afternoon, we will proceed to the Ice Park to see the Ice Sculptures, in daylight, at Sunset, and in the evening with sculptures lighting up with changing colour lights. You'll have several hours to enjoy looking and wandering around the park, taking photos. If you are tired and feeling a bit cold, you can go into a fast food outlet for hot drinks and hot food if you are cold or hungry and have a quick rest before continuing your tour. There are plenty of Sculptures to see and take photos of. There are also many icy activities you can participate in. Afterwards we meet up at an agreed time and we will go out for our dinner, then return to the hotel, have a wonderful sleep after a busy tiring day.

Day 09, 16 JAN: HARBIN (B.L.D)

Today after breakfast, we proceed to the Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo. There will be plenty of time for you to wander around the park, admire the very many snow sculptures throughout, big and small, take photos or participate in the amusement activities. If you are tired and need a rest you can go and have coffee, or hot drink and snack at the Park's coffee and souvenir shop before wandering off again. After lunch we proceed to the Siberian Tiger Park. The Siberian tiger is considered an endangered species and in the 1980s, it was listed as a Class 1 protected species in China. 

Day 10, 17 JAN: HARBIN – SHANGHAI – SYDNEY or MELBOURNE (B)

You are free at leisure this morning to explore this exciting city on your own or have a good rest before flying home. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to airport for your China Eastern Airlines flight to Sydney or Melbourne via Shanghai. You will fly overnight.

Day 11, 18 JAN: ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA

Your tour to China’s Winter Wonderland comes to an end this afternoon when your China Eastern Airlines flight touches down in Australia.

 

Tour Price: $3,680, now $3,280 per person, twin or double share.

Single Supplement: $860

1. China Eastern economy class return ticket Sydney or Melbourne to Shanghai;

2. Airport tax and fuel surcharge (currently $380, subject to change);

3. China internal flights Shanghai to Dalian and Harbin to Shanghai and taxes;
